Gopher snakes have a tough time breaking the skin. I'm usually kneeling at a vine when I "discover" them though, not my favorite moment haha.

Honestly, I fear the dang hawks more than snakes, black widows, coyotes or bees. Once every few years I run across a bobcat or mountain lion. That's no joke, I get the pistol out quick when I see those tracks.

I hate snakes, literally the worse thing I have to do all year when getting one out of the chicken coop. They always get into the smallest corners requiring close contact to get them out!

I also had to kill one in my blueberry patch this year but I think it was just a garden snake it was solid black but it was eating my damn blueberries!
