Based on Dave's press conference this afternoon, he alluded that he will be very aggressive this offseason. On top of this, he stated that an improved pass rush would have helped the secondary and that you can't count on Fowler to be the sole answer to your pass rushing problems.

 

After watching that Texans game and seeing what a good pass rush can do to disrupt a team, should Dave go all in on improving our pass rush? Watching Houston disrupt our offense was seriously one of the most frustrating things I have seen. Just imagine us doing that to another team with our current, explosive offense.

 

For instance, let's say Dave opens up the checkbook and is able to sign an Olivier Vernon and a Berry/Gipson/Weddle type to play FS, would you be willing to trade up to snag Bosa?

 

Let's assume Tennessee goes Tunsil 1st, and Cleveland decides to go QB. We could attempt to swap 1sts and give up a 2nd with Cleveland to get Bosa. San Diego most likely go QB and depending on what Dallas does they may or may not draft a QB either. Cleveland could pick up a 2nd and still get their QB while we greatly enhance our pass rush.

 

Parting with a 2nd could be hard but just imagine a D-Line rotation of Fowler, Vernon, Bosa, Odrik, Marks, Miller, Alualu, Davis, Bennett, and Jones. We could also roll out this lineup on passing downs:

 

LEO - Vernon

DT - Odrik

DT - Marks

DE - Bosa

WLB - Telvin

MLB - Poz

OTTO - Fowler

 

Man, oh, man. Sure we could hope Bosa falls but as it stands right now, it seems highly unlikely that Bosa would fall past 3. With the rest of our picks, we could pick up another CB, OLine depth, another TE, etc.

 

A lot can change between now and the draft, but what say you right now?
