Why weren't Caldwell and other scouts concerned with Fowler's explosion?

Quote:I broke down every play of his that I could find on the internet before the draft. Multiple times. He gets stoned by La'el Collins, he gets stoned against any decent tackle or tight end when lined up over top of them. It is abundantly obvious when you watch his tape that almost all of his production is scheme. Only the blind or unwilling can't see it. He will hold the edge well, but he will certainly not penetrate into the backfield unless you give him a running start.Mayock has a nice track record and I will take his word over you message board scouting any day. "I seem to be in the minority with the media people, having Dante Fowler at No. 1," Mayock said via conference call this week. "He reminds me a little bit of a (Chiefs OLB) Justin Houston. I think he’s going to be 255 to 260 (lbs.). I’m interested where Gregory and Shane Ray and Beasley are. They’ve all been kind of quoted anywhere between 225 and 240 (lbs.), so Fowler is going to be 15 or 20 pounds heavier than any of them, and I think just as explosive." http://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/artic...f3a1725033 Jeremiah: Dante Fowler safest pick of NFL draft's edge rushers http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...ge-rushers "Dante Fowler, we saw it consistently from him his last year," Davis said. "People wondered about his first few years (at Florida), but there isn't that much concern to me. I think he's the real deal." They see the same as I did. I think ill take Mayocks, Jeremiah, and Charles Davis's thoughts on it over yours. If he can return 100% from his injury I dont have any doubt. |
