Next year we will be arguing top 4.  For the sake of argument, lets assume FSU can sneak by Duke and Ohio St takes down Sparty.  In that case those two plus the SEC title winner would be in the 4 team playoff.

 

So who would get the 4th spot?  If Okie St can win in Bedlam next weekend, they'd be 11-1 and conference champs.  Bama is sitting there at 11-1.  Im guessing that Bama would be ahead of them in a calculated poll such as the BCS.  And Bama's loss would obviously be a better one.  But Okie St's been on a big tear of late and again would be the Big12 champ.  Although would it matter if it was Mizzou that won the SEC title game... would the voters put Bama into the 4 team playoff ahead of one loss Okie St AND Auburn?

 

Lets say Okie St loses.  That brings Stanford and Baylor into play.  Stanford is ahead of Baylor in the polls and if they win the Pac12 championship theyll stay that way.  If Okie St loses, Stanford would jump them AND the SEC title game loser in the polls... so they'd probably be 5th behind Bama at 4.  I cant imagine the voters would put a 2 loss Cardinal ahead of a 1 loss Alabama.  And if they wouldnt do that, why would they jump Baylor ahead of both of them?  If Baylor beats Texas and Okie St loses, then Baylor is Big12 champs.  I cant imagine Baylor would leapfrog Bama(or Stanford) in a poll such as the BCS. But again, voters may put them ahead because they are conference champs with only one loss.
