Quote:Why did you have to ask?I completely disagree with the idea that Koetter was a bad offensive coordinator. He played to the strengths of his team on every team he was on. The fact that he was handed Gabbert and told to make ice cream out of dirt his last year wasn't fair to him. And our rush game was 3rd in the league overall during his tenure. All of Garrards best years came with Koetter, ditto for MJD, also for Lewis. The Falcons were 4th overall in passing offense during his time there as well. He also has done well with a rookie Winston last year and suddenly Doug Martin becomes second in the league in rushing yards after looking like a one year wonder for the last 2 years (not to mention his backup Sims looking good too)? Tampa Bay has a top 5 rushing unit. How is this for a factoid: during his 9 seasons as offensive coordinator, he has never had a season where he didn't have either A. a QB or B. a RB in the top ten for yards. And hes had over half his seasons where they were in the top 5. The guy knows offense and adapts to what he has. Seems like he made a strong case for being a head coach with the way he has adapted to his teams strengths. Now it may be the peter principle, but this guy seems to do what everyone says you need to in order to be successful (i.e. adapt to the personal you have), and I fully expect him to take that to the team as a whole. And hes loved by players. Seems like a smart hire to me. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link!
