As I said to JDub, there will always be a starter or two (or more) injured. It's foolish using Marks and Fowler as an excuse for the abysmal performance of the defense this year, especially considering the pathetic QBs of many of the opponents.


 

And we still don't know if Fowler is the answer at pass rush. In any case I don't expect much in the way of sacks from him in his first year on the field against NFL tackles. Very few pass rushers start out strong as rookies.


 

If we draft Ramsey it should be a major upgrade at free safety. That helps. But Caldwell targeted and offered overvalued contracts just about every major defensive free agent last year and we ended up with Odrick, Brown, and Skuta, so don't count on major upgrades from free agency.
