It kills me to say this, but Hillary and Rubio are probably the closest things left to centrists in this race. Unfortunately, Hillary's a snake and Rubio wants to build a police state. We need a third party now more than ever. My hope, screwed up as it is, is that the two main political parties continue to pull so far to the extremes that those disillusioned folks in the middle who agree on more than they disagree on get around to forming a party of their own that drowns out one of the two legacy parties.

 

I think the Republicans could win with Rubio, because he's closer to center than anyone else remaining. I think Trump or Cruz would lose to either Democratic candidate for one simple reason: the key elements of their campaigns are built on fear, while the key elements of Clinton and Sanders' campaigns are built on hope. Regardless of what you think of Obama's Presidency, hope sells in this country, and it'll be far easier for a candidate promising free crap that he has no idea how to pay for to win than it will be for a guy who wants to carpet bomb the Middle East or ban Muslims from entering the US to do so.

What hope?  Socialism is hope?  We've only lapped the field around those economies  for what a century?  More?  You think 50 plus 1 percent of the country wants to go on a honeymoon in the USSR?  

 

Hope works in the absence of Evidence.  Obama sold his proposals as untried and in defiance of the experts.  Those proposals failed, rather miserably i might add.  Then in 08 his campaign was, "well i didn't have enough time"  7 years later and we're having one of worst starts to a year in history, we borrowed ten TRILLION more dollars and we don't have anything to show for it.  promising 4 more years of that hope aint one of them.  

 

The reason i think Trump will win in a general election, is because of what he truly represents.  He's a guy who is historically very moderate, was open to the idea of fiscal and monetary intervention to stem the tide in 07-09 and was intellectually open to the idea of government taking a bigger role in Healthcare.  7 years later it JUST HASN'T WORKED!  

 

as for running on fear, you literally have gangs of men walking the streets of Europe raping women.   You have Christians getting their heads chopped off in the middle east and Christmas parties being shot up here at home.  Taking steps to protect our citizens is common sense.  Don't criticize people because they won't follow you headlong into the sand.
