Joeckel needs to get stronger. That needs to be his priority this off season. I don't expect him to be Tony Boselli, but I do think he needs to come back next year with a reinvented body ready to compete. I think another way to contribute to fixing his issues is to replace Beadles with a more capable Guard. Beadles has done Joeckel no favors with his lousy play.


People are knocking Cyprien for his lack of smarts. Okay, that's fine. People said the same thing about Reggie Nelson, and somehow they found a way to turn him into a quality contributor. The same thing could be accomplished here with a little patience, and perhaps paring back the playbook a bit to allow Cyprien to do less thinking and more of what he does do well. If he's more comfortable with his role, I think he can be an effective role player. I'd prefer we don't cut and run on the guy like we did with Nelson only to see a light go on when he lands elsewhere. He's physical and athletic. Let him do what he does best.


Now, when I say "fixable" I mean they can become serviceable players. Neither of them is going to magically leap to Pro Bowl status, but they can definitely get much better.
