What got Gene in trouble was not doing his homework on Blackmon like Tampa did. Spence isn't Blackmon, stop acting like he is. If you trade down to get him later, he won't be there with pass-rush needy teams like Baltimore, Tampa, and NYG in the top 10.


The narrative around the kid is already changing and by the time the Combine rolls around, more people are going to be talking about him as a high pick. So yeah, I wouldn't expect much laughter if his name is called at #5.


You can let the ghosts of Gene Smith past haunt you into passing up legit talent all you want, I'll take a chance on the kid who's shown that he's changed from the mistakes he made over two years ago.
