I've bought a few new ones but they're mostly of older recordings.  In general they seem to be made a little thicker than some of my "classic" vinyl but they sound every bit as good to my ear.  I think the key is how they're recorded.  As you mentioned, I don't think anyone really makes pure analog masters today but they do tend to record them in extremely high bit-rates (192K is common, MP3s are typically 44.1K) on tape. (As opposed to bit-DEPTH incidentally.)  The AAD process of recording -> playback now is more like DDA ironically.   Smile
