Who said anything about conference bias?  Alabama is #4 in the polls after the loss yesterday.  If the idea is to get your four best teams, its very possible that you'll have two from the same conference.

 

It'll be interesting to see what the selection committee will do.  Will they select teams based on who they think is best.  Or who they think is most deserving.  Or some combination of both.  I imagine with the large numbers of members, each will have their own criteria.  Some may just rank their top 4 teams regardless of anything else.  Some may look at the 4 best conference winners.  

 

If you are ranking the teams you think are actually the best, then I imagine it would be hard to leave Bama out.  Was listening to College Sports Radio today and they asked the question, if you had Bama playing Auburn on a neutral field tomorrow, who do you think would be favored to win?  Honestly probably Bama.  What about Ohio St?  Probably Bama.  What about FSU?  They agreed on a push.
