My issue with Henne is not talent (as a backup) but rather paying him $4m per year.

 

But what need can you really expect to fill with a 4th round pick?  You can't expect to find a pass rusher, nor a free safety.  Maybe a decent linebacker or running back.  But you can't expect to have a playoff team if you're relying on a 4th round rookie to play.  Many of the needs should be filled by free agency already.  I think they have more flexibility especially in the mid rounds.  If there is a quality quarterback that falls in the 4th or 5th range, I think they should take him.  It's only one pick.  

 

As far as Henne goes, his salary is irrelevant.  My guess is they want to sign him, but we don't know if Henne even wants to resign.  My problem with the $2m reject veteren is that he's unlikely to be any good.  There's at  least a possibility the rookie could end up being good.
