When you're talking about taking a guy supposedly labeled as primarily a pass rusher in the top 5 and you're questioning his motor and explosive athleticism  those are big red flags to me. You want your pass rusher to play with his head on fire snap in and snap out. That is something Fowler has. Bosa far too often looks like he doesn't give a rat when plays are being run away from him. In turn you have to question how much he really cares about playing football and what his effort will look like when he gets paid. Bosa is primarily a run stopper and again, when you're talking about how good a guy is at stopping the run rather than rushing the passer, you have to question if that guy is really worth a top 5 pick, let alone being in the conversation for best player in the draft. In an ideal world, if Bosa maxes out his potential, he will be another MIchael Bennett, winning with great strength and technique to be able to get to the QB and play multiple spots along the D-Line while also being great against the run as well. But Bosa's effort level is nowhere near Bennett's right now. Bennett's instincts are also a lot better. It's always a red flag in general when a football player's instincts are not strong. Instincts are what separate decent from great and Bosa's instincts are highly questionable.

 

When you add in the lack of scheme versatility, lack of speed/explosiveness, and questionable instincts and motor then you have to really wonder just how safe a pick Bosa is for most teams. All those together can equal a gigantic bust. Again, I think he is a good fit for the Jags given our scheme and what we can surround him with and he will be able to play to his strengths here, but I think he is a far cry from a knock-out-of-the-park type prospect. I've had my concerns with Fowler and I think he is safer and probably has more upside as a pass rusher than Bosa.
