If a "franchise QB prospect" is available at 4- the Cowboys will take him according to Stephen Jones

#23

If both the Browns and Cowboys do take quarterbacks and I think there's at least a 50% chance they do, the Jaguars will be sitting in a great position. At the least, two of these 3 players will be available: Bosa, Ramsay and Jack.

I kind of wish free agency was after the draft so the Jaguars could draft the BAP at 5 and then throw boatloads of money at the best free agent playing a position they didn't address high in the draft. Since that's not the case, they simply need to sign the best free agents available at these position groups (pass rusher, OTTO and free safety) and then draft accordingly.

Just listened to Bucky Brooks and, like many, he is extremely high on Ramsay. He compared him to Charles Woodson. He also likes Bosa a lot and feels he can be moved around to optimize his skills. Jack was not discussed, but most consider him the best athlete in he entire draft. If all three of these prospects even come close to reaching their potential, the Jaguars cannot lose.

So, what would be the best possible scenario if the 2 q.b. are taken ahead of the Jaguars' pick? Realistically, I don't see them signing more than 2 extremely high-priced free agents- not because of lack of money, but having to compete with 31 other teams. My choices would be:

Sign Malik Jackson and Olivier Vernon. Both are at their prime and the defensive line would be fixed.

Draft Ramsay in the first. Even if they don't sign or draft another corner, House and Colvin would be fine with Ramsay also in in secondary.

That leaves OTTO and they should be able to get a good one in the 2nd or 3rd round. There are several good prospects such as Schobert from Wisconsin who could be had in the 3rd or possibly 4th round if there is not good value in the 2nd.

Although I don't expect a lot of this to happen, it is fun to imagine. When your team has won about 12 games in 3 years the off-season can be more fun than the regular one. Hopefully that will change soon.
