Cann at C is appealing on one level.

 

As a clip posted in the Beadles thread shows, Cann has the ability to stonewall defenders that charge him directly, almost as if his legs are cement pillars that he plants in the ground in pass protection.  But that does not preclude him from having quick feet to slide, mirror and change direction.  I think those abilities and attributes would serve him well at either G or C.  He's certainly smart enough to man the C spot.

 

But, to my knowledge he played G in college.  Even though we can safely presume he knows the offense and the protections I don't know how he is at calling line signals, etc.  We don't know how well he would handle the transition to C, though yesterday on the Jaguars Thursday radio show, Boselli seemed confident that if Linder (or Cann) were good players, they could handle the switch to C with no problem.  I just want players-especially promising ones-operating within their comfort zone.

 

We know Mack has called protections and played the position well in the pros.  But he doesn't know this offense.  Furthermore, he didn't play well for at least part of last year, presumably due to the broken leg.

 

So I can see arguments for either guy playing C, or maybe even a rookie playing the position if good enough.
