What you can ask for is, "We have a hole at LT.  If you sign with us, you will be our LT."  

 

That is not the official company line.   The official company line is "We have faith in Luke."  

 

So, he comes in here, and the situation is, he has to beat out the first draft pick of this regime, a player taken 2nd overall, a player the GM has said is out left tackle, a player both GM and coach have said they believe in.   Or, he can go somewhere else, where they tell him, "If you sign with us, you will be our left tackle."
