Could Buckner Play 4-3 DE?

A lot of us have speculated that Buckner is not a fit for us at pick 5.   Reason being, he's yet another DT and we are overloaded at that position.   Hence the suggestion that we pass over the highly rated Buckner and take a lesser player that seems to fit our needs for an edge rusher, like Shaq Lawson.

Here's an article on a NY Giants website that explores whether Buckner can play 4-3 DE for the Giants.   Expert opinions are split.

My opinion is, at pick 5, we should take the best player who can get on the field.  That means, for example, not a QB, because we have one and 2nd QBs don't play unless the starter gets injured.   But D-linemen rotate in and out of the lineup.   Teams like to have 8 of them, bringing them in and out in waves.

So if we have Buckner, Malik Jackson, and Sen'Derrick Marks, can we get all 3 on the field at the same time?   It seems like it to me.

If Buckner is indeed scheme-versatile, meaning he can play multiple positions on the defensive line, that would bring him into play as our pick at 5.   Because one thing I do not want to do is pass over a better player to take a lesser player.

Here's an evaluation from a Packer-oriented website:

"Summary: DeForest Buckner has the ability to be a star in the NFL.  Whether he's drafted as a 4-3 player with the ability to play inside or out, or bulk up to play defensive end in the 3-4, the athletic ability and motor of Buckner will impact any franchise from day one.  He is a coachable prospect that has improved with each year.  Dominating the opposing rushing attack for several years, Buckner showed that he is disruptive enough to rush the passer despite seeing numerous double-teams and playing primarily from the 5-technique.  Buckner has the intelligence, athletic ability, and work effort needed to become a perennial prow-bowler in the years to come."
