It's called advanced knowledge because acquiring it is commonly a difficult and expensive task that sometime takes decades. For example, the Large Hadron Collider. Without the painstaking efforts used to gather it, most advanced knowledge would never be known.

 

Now, about this idea that aliens are somehow visiting us on Earth, think about the huge distances involved to visit our planet.  Does anyone honestly think that if an alien civilization had expended the great effort to travel here they would be satisfied with doing nothing more than slaughtering livestock and conducting anal probes on unsuspecting humans?

 

This should give you an idea of the vastness of our universe by simply illustrating the distances of our solar system. Light travels around 186,000 miles, or 300,000,000 meters per second.  Nothing is known to travel faster - unless of course "advanced knowledge" has found a faster method.
