To get the nomination, someone has to get a majority of the delegates.   What's wrong with that?   Someone has to come up with someone who can get a majority of the delegate votes.  The party leaders have to get together and say, "If we put up so and so and put his nomination before the convention, along with all the other candidates who are still in this thing, can this so and so get a majority?"  

 

There's no other way to do it.  The party leaders have to get together and come up with a compromise candidate who can get a majority of the delegates.   I don't see any other way to do it.
