I think you sort of answered your own question. Some might view the ad as an expression of dominance over the minority. I think that is a bit much, and agree with other posts in this thread that focusing on things like this tend to be missing the forest for a minor blemish on a piece of bark of a particular tree. It reeks of some liberal arts graduate student's critique of the semiotics of race relations in corporate speech, blah blah blah. 

And to your later post about both sides being extremist, while I agree with you, it certainly isn't anything new. Heck, some of the political ads from the founders make current ads seem genteel. And the distractions of 'racism' aren't new either. From my understanding, early on in the last century racism was used to trump class-ism and squelch populism. Sorry, just had to throw that sentence in there due to the thread title.
