My worries about Jack is frankly that the biggest attributes constantly mentioned are versatility, athleticism, and instinct. Those are all great attributes to have, but those are also common attributes that I worry could be overrating him solely on his potential. Even if he were to translate those to the NFL, would he really be able to do so as a rookie? Everyone here keeps talking about how he will immediately step in as a great coverage LB, but don't most defensive players, even CB's, take time to figure out NFL coverages and preparation? Then on top of that, you cannot expect him to be all that versatile his first year.

 

True, if you think he will be great in 2-3 years, you have to take that chance but I don't really feel he showed that many flashes on defense at UCLA. On top of that, he has to recover from this first major injury, and that can be mental challenge for many players. 

 

I get that Bosa is not the sexy pick. I know that most of the people are using the statement that you also take "great player over the good player." But a DE who gets 8-10 sacks a year for the next 5-7 years is highly sought after in NFL, and not something the Jag's franchise has ever really had.
