If the Jags want any name FA which other teams also want,especially if they come from a Super Bowl winning team or even just a good team, they are going to have to overpay and overpay big.

 

That's just the way it is right now, not sure why you don't understand this.

 

Even offering to overpay and overpay big doesn't always work out for the Jags, see DeMarco Murray last year and Olivier Vernon this year. There was also someone else a few years back whose name escapes me.

 

The Jags just are not getting any name or big name free agents to sign here without overpaying them.

 

All Dave can do is structure the big contract in such a way that it is as team friendly as possible in case the player doesn't turn out to be the player the thought they were getting when they signed him to that overpaid contract.
