So much this. I disagree with my husband and he with me on several things. It doesn't mean I hate him or that he hates me. It means we have a difference of opinion. But these days a difference of opinion automatically means you hate that person or group and have no tolerance for them. 

 

As I read what I just wrote I noticed something. These four words which I used have very different meanings yet are used a lot by people who I think either don't really know what they mean or they twist the words to fit their POV.

 

Disagree: verb

-to fail to agree; differ:

-to differ in opinion; dissent

 

Opinion: noun

-a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.

-a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
 
Hate: noun

<div>-intense dislike; extreme aversion or hostility.
-the object of extreme aversion or hostility.
</div>
 

Tolerance: noun

-a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, beliefs, practices, racial or ethnic origins, etc., differ from one's own; freedom from bigotry.

-a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions, beliefs, and practices that differ from one's own.
-interest in and concern for ideas, opinions, practices, etc., foreign to one's own; a liberal, undogmatic viewpoint.
