Part of the article also points out that brain anatomy can be influenced by life/environmental experiences.  In a sense, we don't know exactly what gives us consciousness as we understand it.  It's hard to say what is environmental, experiential, etc. etc. etc.  One of the most complex aspects of our consciousness is our sexuality, all you have to do is give a quick google search to balloon popping or puffy jackets to see how diverse and yet singular some expressions of sexuality are.  

 

This is not an impertinent topic.  Why?  because the leading indicator for the success of offspring is the two parent household.  One of the strongest foundations of long term successful relationships are...  you guessed it...  GENDER ROLES.  Gender roles are essential to maintaining healthy romantic heterosexual relationships.  As men are seen by women as weak, incapable of protecting them etc. then their natural romantic attraction to them dies.  as such about 35-40 percent of marriages today are devoid of intimacy, and nearly half end in divorce.  

 

The gender roles of the parents then become templates for the children.  As the relationships of the parents are destroyed then the influence on the offspring is disrupted creating adverse inferences on the part of the child.  Just ask a woman who didn't have a great relationship with her father.  

 

Within an organism, as the copies of DNA held within the cell nuclei become eroded then the duplicated cells within the organism become less perfect over time.  We call this AGING.  

 

As the structure of the nuclear family erodes over time then the resulting offspring begin to exhibit more and more unhealthy behavior.  We call this societal decay.  In both the singular sense of the organism or the macro sense of a society or country the end result is the same.  It's just a matter of time.
