  The thought process you mentioned is very much what came to mind for me.   My thoughts went back to the 1970's and 1980's when it was common for FBs and what's considered two down LBs to be much more valued in the draft process and overall.   The game has changed substantially since then.    These days,  a strong case can be made that Nickel Backs have more value than Strongside (  # 3 ) type LBs that play in base Defenses but usually are on the bench in expected passing situations.
