Grade This Year's Draft
|
A minus and here's why:
The first two rounds were an A+. If I could give A++ I would. But it fell apart in rounds 3-7, nt because of who we picked but who we didn't. In Round 3: Jonathan Bullard would have been a better selection because he has three down, starter potential. Same with Javon Hargrave who could be this year's Aaron Donald based on his Senior Bowl showing. I said it before: Yannick looks a lot like Jorge Cordova. Drafting a DPR is to risky for round 3; look at all the misses over the years. Even moving back to take Connor Cookwoykd have been a better option--now he's backing up Carr, clearly a BAP pick in Oakland. In Round 4: Day is a solid pick but is he better than Andrew Billings (Tony Pauline had billings in the top 20 at one point). I'd have gone SS here: miles killebrew is ferocious, and the jags need someone who can stuff the box and take down the likes of Demarco, Derrick and the other power Backs. Do our safeties have that killer instinct? Round 6: I'm fine with the developmental Qb; and the developmental DE from Montana. I'd have moved up a spot or two and taken a flyer on the German, or traded both picks to get into the late 5th to get Westernan... Round 7: Woodard is probably not going to make the team. Daniel Braverman, Scooby Wright, Jeremy Cash...any of them would have been better. I'm happy with the draft overall but rounds 3-7 were kind not in par with BAP philosophy in rounds 1 and 2... |
