People like to judge by results.   It's an easy and quick way to make a judgment.    Did we win?   Coaching is good.   Did we lose?   Coaching is bad.   Really, that's all a fan can do, because that's all a fan sees.  

 

But a GM is different.   A GM attends practices and meetings.   A GM has seen other coaches, good and bad.   A GM knows good and bad coaching when he sees it.   Not by results, but by the actual coaching that occurs.   A GM sees what is happening when the fans aren't around to see it.   In short, a GM can see things a lot more deeply than a fan can see them.   

 

And that's why I am not going to say something like, either we make the playoffs or Gus should get fired.   I am going to operate under the assumption that Dave Caldwell can judge the coaching a lot better than I, or any other fan, can.   Dave Caldwell should be able to see the reasons we have success or failure a lot better than a casual fan like you or me.  

 

Leave it up to Dave Caldwell to decide whether Gus is the right coach for our future.
