At best, he was a project that would require developing, and ultimately that would land him on the practice squad. 

 

Branch had a significantly higher draft pedigree, and regardless of how that translated to the NFL, the fact remains, he was a guy that had significantly higher expectations coming into the league. 

 

He'll get a year to learn the system and to rehab the injury.  At the end of the day, the only thing he'll miss out on for now is practice reps.  As long as he recovers quickly, that will be taken care of next year.
