Gus won't be fired if he pulls a 9 win season.  That's a huge swing from one year to the next just to get to that point.  Caldwell's job is not even remotely at risk at this point.  The owner has bought into the plan, and is fully invested behind it.  At the end of the day, the only way anything could possibly change with the coach or GM is if the team just completely implodes, and the only way that would happen is if you have multiple critical injuries.  At that point, I doubt Khan would fire anyone. If the team underachieves and it's not the result of injuries, then naturally Gus is going to be the guy to fall on his sword, but Caldwell's not going anywhere. 

 

With all of that being said, I expect the team to be better than some of the folks on this board.  We saw what focusing on the offense last off season did for that unit.  All of the focus this off season with a couple of exceptions has been on fixing the defense, and the expectation is that you'll see similar improvement on that side of the ball as a result.

 

This team is on the verge of being a very good team.  The methodology used to build it assures that it should be able to maintain that for a extended period of time.  Much to the chagrin of some wannabe GMs around here, it will more than likely happen with the current head coach and GM.
