There are such a limited amount of people on earth who can do what he does so I will never criticize him for wanting to be paid the wage he's earned in his profession.


It also sounds like he wants to be paid like he's in free agency as well. I like that approach by him because too often the absolute premier players at their respective positions get resigned to contracts that are nowhere near what they would command on the open market. You see a guy like Vernon get paid ridiculously because he's a solid enough player that a team allows to walk in FA but not a blue chipper that a team cannot afford to lose.


Guys like Watt and Miller actually lose out on earnings over the length of their careers because they are so great and are never given the chance to hit the open market and receive those ridiculous contracts that good not great players get.
