Talks between Broncos and Miller "could get ugly"

#33

I see this as one of two things.

1. He's either clearly foolish. And doesn't realize Denver is not going to budge an inch on this deal. They've already started a potential hard reset or rebuild with no proven commodity at quarterback.

Or

2. He's not sure if the Broncos will be the same Superbowl caliber team now with an unproven commodity at quarterback, which, is very well likely.

I am going with 2.

There was a comparison I saw not too long ago though between Watt and Miller. And the argument was that Watt only gains his massive sack totals because he plays in a weak AFC South division. And somehow, that makes Miller a better player. However, in reality, when you look at Miller's sack numbers from 2015. 7 of his 11 sacks came against the AFC West. And there was even a five week streak of where he only managed to rack up 1 sack and 1 tackle in 5 games against non-divisional or non-conference opponents.

It's just a foolish argument. Does that mean he's a terrible player? No. He did show up during the play-offs. He did eat his opponents alive during the most important games. So he's earned his payday in his eyes. But I just find it funny how people base their arguments. Denver didn't have a top quality defense strictly because of him. And he has to recognize that. And to be honest with you. Nearly that entire defense has either left during this off-season. Or they're landing in hot water. See Talib. Ware also isn't getting any younger. And Wolfe has an issue with staying healthy.

At 26 years old. He's insane for passing up on this deal. BUT, if he's really all about winning and not the money. It makes sense for him to turn down that offer. Because he's taking a huge risk and bet on himself at this point by not signing that deal that he's been offered. If he gets injured. If his numbers dip just the slightest bit. He's not going to see this kind of money from a winning and more competitive football team.
