Of course they have risk. I don't think many believe they risk losing billions. That's an extreme take. But even if you think the percentage is high that they will lose billions they have their health to the extent that they can control. The players are at a high risk for an uncomfortable life dealing with pain after their career. Money means little if you don't have your health.
