So, what, you think that Dave in the draft room is going to be like "we're good on offense, and our players on defense are better than the team's rank would suggest, so let's go ahead and just give away all of our draft picks"?

 

The team has a QB, it has a couple of pro bowl level wide receivers, it has a pro bowl level tight end, they took a RB last year, etc.

 

They have to take someone, and you really think he wouldn't try to get even better players than the team already has? The point isn't that the defensive players are the equivalent of the '85 Bears defensive roster, the point is that the team has been dreadful on defense under Bradley, and it's not like they haven't signed or drafted any defensive players during his time here, he just hasn't shown any ability at all to actually develop players or prepare a defensive game plan that can do anything more than sometimes containing opponent running games. Which isn't really a big deal in the modern NFL where all of the focus is on passing.

 

Still, though, you really told me. Dave continues to draft and sign defensive players, obviously that means that Gus is a great coach. Rico has spoken.
