These are all the big things in the book that upset me with the show.

He is simply a Maester, from day one he is advising Jon.  Merwyn the Mage is an interesting character we get at the very end of the last book and I would expect him to be in the show next season, last we hear of him he is riding for Mereen to serve Daneryus
