There are long time fans though that have been reading this story since the 90s. It's not so bad. It's just some minor differences and changes. I'll give you another example. Jorah Mormont's character has been completely overplayed on the show compared to the book. If anything. Daenerys spends more time hooking up with Daario. And she spends a good portion of her time being advised by Sir Baristan Selmy. Selmy is one of the GREATEST swordsman that ever wielded a blade in recent history or memory in the world of Westeros. He's still alive in the books. It was pretty cheap to see him get killed by some petty "Sons of the Harpy" in the show. Especially because it broke his character whose always been full of great instinct and awareness. He could have lived longer instead of giving us more brainless filler with Jorah.
