And it shouldn't matter but the officer involved was a minority who was actively involved in the community. 

 

I am not saying that the threat assessment here was perfect of even appropriate depending on what the investigation uncovers.  It is my belief that the threat assessment and the decision to discharge the weapon was based on the presence of a firearm and the officers perception of a threat. 

 

In a subsequent video, lavish described the declaration that castile was a permit holder AS HE WAS REACHING FOR HIS WALLET.  It would be sad for this kind of misunderstanding to have cost someone their life, but at the same time it's not proof of racism. 

 

This case has a lot involved because in a country with citizens bathed in the protection of the second amendment there should be a clear and safe path to carry where its permitted and when a person has gone through the proper legal channels.  The NRA has said as much.
