Khan says "jag fans have suffered long enough!"

Quote:I think we're so close to this team, and we watch them so closely all the time, every game, that we see all the coaching mistakes.   I think if you watch any team that closely, you'll see loads of coaching mistakes.   So I think our vision of Bradley is skewed by the way we have him under a microscope.   Any coach who wins a bunch of games is a genius, while any coach who loses a bunch of games is a dunce and we see all the reasons why, because we are watching every single play and everything in between.

Heck, I remember a game a couple of years ago when the Pats went for it on 4th down on their own 30 yard line, and failed, and lost the game as a result, when they could have just punted the ball and left it up to the defense like any other coach in football would have.   Tom Coughlin used to regularly go for 2 in the first half.  I thought that was pretty stupid.   But give Belichick and Coughlin some great players to work with and they win Super Bowls.

Pete Carroll threw the ball from the 1 yard line with Marshawn Lynch in the backfield and the Pats showing no signs they could stop him, and as we all know, the ball got picked and the Seahawks lost.   Dumb move.

We see Gus Bradley up close, all the time, and so we see all the mistakes and all the dumb moves, but the truth is, every coach makes plenty of mistakes.

What Gus needs is better players.   I think we've finally got them, so this is his chance to prove himself.   But I'm not going to say we went 5-11 last year because of the coaching.

I don't think those examples from other coaches were mistakes. They went with the odds, but it just didn't work. Not even every 99% chance comes in. In that Pats game the defense was not stopping anyone, and a first down would ice the game.

Compare that to Gus. Go look at the three plays starting at 6:15 left in the 3rd quarter vs. Houston in week six. Even the peanut vendor could see that Hoyer had trouble when he was blitzed, but never failed when given time to throw. Yet after two blitzes that worked, the Jags went into a rush-four prevent on 3rd down. Hoyer had time to recite the Gettysburg Address and still complete the pass. You could put the blame on Babich, but Gus made the call to hire him, kept him around for season 3, and failed to take over or reassign the defensive play calling after seeing that.
