Septiembre is the great "Fooler" month for the NFL.


Quite often, teams that look good in the first month end up fizzing out of contention or conversation by early December.


Did Carolina look like a 15-1, Superbowl contending team in week 1 last season? The Jets looked like a "powerhouse" contender in Septiembre last year, then they started falling apart.


Aaron Rodgers is one of the best, no doubt about it. However, Green Bay is not some impossible, unstoppable juggernaut that some people say they are. I've seen them beaten many times by teams that are average/decent the past few years. Green Bay is involved in mamy very close contests each year (it took a Hail Mary prayer for them to beat Detroit last year: DETROIT). IIRC, GB started 6-0 last year. Many were saying "Packers vs Patriots Superbowl, book it." Then, they ended up being a Wild-card team after notching 6 straight wins.


Of course it would be TERRIFIC for the Jags to beat GB in week 1. If they do win, I'll be very happy, but I don't think it'll "mean" anything to me other than showing that Jax is back to being an NFL caliber roster.


I already expect the game to be a close contest that could go either way. Jax has improved offensively and had an influx of defensive talent (albeit young). Green Bay is not an unbeatable juggernaut either. They are a good team with a QB that can "get it done" late in games when needed.


That's just my opinion (1 opinion of varying hundreds).
