If the Russians attack the Baltic members of NATO, if he doesn't think they've spent enough in their own defense, he's not going to defend them.
He's practically inviting the Russians to attack the Baltic members of Nato. This is one massive step closer to World War III. NATO members must fulfill their obligations to NATO, and that includes the members spending the agreed upon amount in their own defense. He's right about that. But saying we might not come to a member's defense is to invite an attack. You can't check their account before you decide whether to come to their defense. We either have NATO or we don't. To act like maybe we do and maybe we don't in the face of Putin's adventurism is extremely reckless. |
