As for the wasted pick, the worst one was the one that the posters on this message board were all falling over themselves to make: Justin Blackmon.

Nah...

A top ten selection bust becoming a franchise guy 6+ years later for another team is unlikely... but if it happens it doesn't make Gene better. It means player got better and probably has to do with his work ethic and the coaches of the 9ers....
