Legislative oversight? Is that a joke? The same people "overseeing" these departments are also in bed with lobbyist who are negotiating business contracts for said departments. But if you believe the system is working as intended and the legislators are effectively preventing fraud, waste, and abuse, then I suppose any sort of change or need for an external audit is unneeded. I am of the opposite belief.

As an accountant I'm pretty well aware of internal audits...


If you think that the system is so broken that basic functions of the organization do not work, then I'm not sure there's anything can be done.


The fraud, waste, and abuse (as you put it) of the government I think is something to always be aware of. But it's not the major issue of the problem with government. You make it sound as though there is rampant waste and abuse. Please show us where this waste and abuse is.



The corruption based on the fact that millionaires and billionaires have bought out our politicians is the problem. Internal auditors are civil servants that provide a good service.


The GAO is a legit civil service that does a great job. Just one example of government oversight that I think is working.
