However I will pick you up on class (Being a Brit I'm an expert). Further education is a big part of class structures. Isn't the whole point of going so you can get a professional job easier? I couldn't be an Accountant if I hadn't been educated as such.

 

Depends on the profession. Does a college degree often help a welder? Carpenter? Agriculturalist? Electrician? Real-estate agent? IT? Independent programming? Often these professions are entered via apprenticeships, certifications, or pure experience/skill. People who take these routes are considered statistically uneducated. Does that sound fair to you? Do you put them at a lower class?
