This whole thing turns my stomach. Some of these comments remind me of a story my favorite high school teacher told me once.


This happened in a small town in GA. A guy in his 20s raped a high school aged girl and was caught. The town sheriff knew the dad of the girl (and his temperament) and came to his place of work a few days later and said due to a technicality they needed to release the guy, but to not do anything stupid until the they could get this scumbag back in front of a judge. The dad said not to worry and that he wouldn't do anything. The scumbag being a brash young punk decided to hit the town the night of his release from jail and went out drinking with his loser friends. They shut down the bar. As this guy went to put his key in the door to unlock his car (a DUI for sure), he was knocked unconscious from behind.


He woke up naked, on his knees in the middle of the woods. He couldn't move as his sack had been nailed to a tree stump right in front of him. About 20 feet away he could see the father of the girl he raped sitting next to a small fire and sharpening a decent sized knife. The scumbag slowly realized what was happening started begging and pleading to be let go.. don't do this.. the father of the raped girl never said a word.


He approached the stump, looked the guy dead in the eye and thrust the sharpened knife into the stump. He turned his back and walked back to the small campfire. He picked up what looked like a small box and came back towards the stump. As he got closer, the scumbag saw it was a gasoline can. The father of the raped girl poured it on the stump and trailed a line back to the campfire where he kicked a small log over to ignite the gasoline trail. Then he walked away having never said a word and left that young man with a no-win decision to make.


Sounds like urban legend and I have no other details, but my old teacher swears this is a true story. Doesn't fix the pain and suffering the rape victim carries her whole life, but at least there was a tiny sense of justice.
