Quick google search.. Sorry I couldn't get the years in synch.

Greater Los Angeles area - 18.68 million people (2015)

Greater St Louis area - 2.8 million. (as of July 1st, 2014)

This year in LA 16.1 percent = 3,007,480 homes

Last year in St Louis 17.7 percent = 495,600 homes

I think this is correct math. Blame google lol
