I don't understand this at all.

 

1. He is rookie playing in a real NFL for the first time ever. He should be going all out, trying to earn more playing time. Now he could have been over pursuing or thinking too much. That happens to rookies, but you still judge the tape to help him get better.

2. This is the NFL. You only have 5 LB on the active roster. Everyone of them is in all the game plan and strategy meetings all week. Everyone one is being told what they should do if they have to go into the game. "Next man up" is the pervasive NFL culture. You are supposed to always be ready.
