20 of Bortles' 89 passes haven't crossed line of scrimmage and 40 (44.9 percent) haven't gone past 5 yard...

Honestly the Chargers just whipped us.
Yes and no. In this formation, when you run you are putting your bet on 2 wide receivers and a receiving TE not known for their blocking ability in tight on the formation. With a back not known for his power, or anything for that matter, going against a 9 man front. Ivory may be able to gain something on that, but we are not built up front for smash mouth punch it into 9 man fronts, even if corners are in there(even in a 4-3 base a 9 man front has 2 DBs in the box with 0 coverage outside) I think that is a bad idea, you essentially are creating a poor scenario of 9 in the box on your own behalf. To the contrary, if you spread the WRs out you are basically in nickel with a corner in tight for Julius. This formation screams run or screen and they sniffed it out all damn day. Either way the scheme and execution were God awful for the situation, why not hit something intermediate outside or down the seam with single high? You are already down 5 yards to a penalty? Just a head scratcher to me.

Edit: Looking at it on my own, since I just bought game pass... Julius Thomas pulls from across the formation, and is the lead blocker on your example play. That is poor  personnel packaging/coaching in my book. Putting player/s in a bad spot. Instead of Lewis or a Guard pulling... Julius Thomas is pulling from the entire opposite side of the formation, as a lead blocker and he whiffs, TFL is your result. He hardly got there time to even lay a block on anyone. That is a bad play.
