Yeah, that's always going to be a post-week 2 power ranking issue. Very small sample sizes mean you're forced to overestimate something. My gut tells me the Lions are better than the Titans, and had it been a road loss for the Lions I might have discounted it a little. Also, I'm not sure the Titans deserve so high a ranking as 23, but I couldn't credibly put the Lions any lower or the Titans any higher.

 

But the truth is it wasn't the Lions defense that failed them. As you note, 15 points against a bad-ish team at home is a showing worthy of a 23-25 ranking. And worse, it directly counters the week 1 takeaway - that the Lions offense might be pretty good. I suppose its possible I'm underestimating the Titan's D prowess, but I don't really think that.

 

It kind of left me with a dilemma regarding the Colts. They have to be somewhere, and ultimately I think the Colts are more likely to be the Texans' competition in the AFC South than the Jags or Titans. I'll certainly agree that the two game sample doesn't support 15. It's mostly the promise of Luck and getting the CBs back. They could plummet if they fail in week three and the Texans can get it done vs the Pats. 3 games back in after week 3 is an enormous handicap - only a Colts sweep of the Texans, or a major Texans season-ending injury (Osweiler, Hopkins, Watt), would likely restore their relevance at that point.
