The NFL rookie wage scale determines how much money each player with less than five years of experience is paid, regardless of how many fans watch games on TV or at the stadium. Players can be paid more or less after the fourth year when they are due for new contracts. So what if fans pay the players? They just happen to be the source of income and don't determine the player's salary.
