Fire Gus Bradley (MERGED)
|
There is not a voting option listed (either 'yes or no') that represents my point of view; I would answer: 'it depends'. We've played 3 whole games so far this season, which leaves us 13 games to go. I've stated before that I consider reaching at least an 8-8 record this season to be the 'bench mark'; anything less than 8-8 and Gus should be given his walking papers without hesitation.
Gus has had a very poor record to date as a HC; he is statistically one of (if not the) 'losingest' HC's in the history of the NFL. However, given the rebuild the team went through he has had a pretty good excuse for the team not doing very well his first several years here; that however, is no longer the situation as the team now has sufficient talent on the field (at least on paper) to be competitive. To start the season 0-3 before going to London is grim; but to do so having lost badly to San Diego who (at least on paper) has inferior overall talent compared to the Jags... and then lose to the ravens in a game in which during the second half the ravens did everything possible to allow the Jags to win and yet we still lost...well, it does not bode well for Gus Bradley as remaining the HC here. Nevertheless, it is still possible that things could get turned around and the team get on the right track and start winning some games. It is still possible for the team to have at least an 8-8 season record. Possible, but unless this team gets out of it's losing habits immediately an 8-8 record is looking more and more improbable. Our franchise quarterback hasn't helped Gus Bradley at all so far this season; he isn't looking so much like a maturing veteran quarterback as he looks like he has actually regressed in his passing technique and he looks unsettled behind center. He is making the kind of mental mistakes that one generally associates with a rookie quarterback instead of one who's been playing the pro game into his third year now. So our head coach isn't looking good and our franchise quarterback isn't looking good... who's fault is that? Our GM, Dave Caldwell bares some responsibility for our current situation as much as the HC and QB. Dave hired Gus and drafted Bortles. So if Gus goes away, Dave Caldwell needs to be on the hot seat too. |
