Chris Simms says to end Bortles experiment

Quote:This has been my biggest point of disagreement with many people on here. Too many people think what he was last year was good enough if the rest of the team had just been better around him.

I think the truth is that he needs to take a big step forward from what he was last year before we can seriously contend for anything. I think you agree with that too since you said in the post before that he was 15-20 QB range after last year, which I think is a fair ranking. I think you would also agree a QB in the 15-20 range isn't going to lead a team to any kind of legitimate contention.

A QB in the range of 15-20 by rank in what regard? Completions? 3rd down completions? Yardage? Touchdowns? Interceptions? Just need more clarification there. Because by all accounts Denver got it done last year with a broken down Peyton Manning. Baltimore has done it with Trent Dilfer. We've made it to the play-offs with quarterbacks like Leftwich and Garrard. Alex Smith has appeared a few times as well. Eli Manning has won two superbowls with pedestrian regular season performances. Roethilsberger wasn't an all-star statistically the two years he won his superbowl. Just trying to understand what your point is exactly because I am having a hard time understanding it. There are many ways to win in this sport. I think if you consider Bortles numbers last year, had we had a competent defense and running game the turnovers would have went down and we would have finished better than we had. More touchdowns is good. You need that to win football games last time I checked.

He can succeed. In time. Provided we DO get better around him. Coaching needs to get better first and foremost. The lineman need to get it together. And this running game needs to get going. 113 yards rushing in three weeks is pathetic for any football team. That's all our trio of running backs have been able to muster since the start of this season. Just baffles me that so many lazy fans on here are just so quick to beat and bludgeon Bortles as if everything on this 0 - 3 start is completely on him. Just insane man.
